Michelle is currently enrolled in the Board Certified Assistant Behaviour Analyst Program through Florida Institute of Technology. She is working to complete her BCaBA designation with the goal of becoming a Behaviour Consultant and looks forward to continuing to support children and families as she completes her program.

Michelle Fraser has been working with children and families for over 7 years in various settings. She has worked in families' homes as a nanny, provided over night respite care, and facilitated after school programs. With this passion in mind, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care at the University of the Fraser Valley. During her studies at UFV, Michelle also completed a Social Services Diploma and an Early Childhood Educator Assistant license.

Throughout her B.A. (CYC) program, Michelle completed four practicum placements in addition to her academic courses. She facilitated weekly youth groups, presented topics at young parent support groups, and planned events for families in the community. During her last practicum placement, she focused her educational training on infant development at a child development centre in her community. She created and implemented goals based on each child's current needs and supported families with continuing these goals in their home. She gained a wide range of knowledge on developmental delays, various diagnoses, and infant development assessments. She brings her knowledge for creating and implementing developmentally appropriate goals for children to her position with Early Start Autism Therapy.

While working for Loyst and Associates, Michelle implemented the Reference and Regulate curriculum while providing direct therapy to children as a Behaviour Interventionist. After working as a BI for two years, Michelle began her role as a Team Leader for Early Start Autism Therapy in the Surrey/Delta/Langley clinic. She enjoys supporting BIs to ensure that each child is receiving the best therapy program possible and she values her amazing ESAT team. She loves going to work each day because of the amazing families and children she works with.

In her spare time, Michelle enjoys spending time with her family and friends, scrapbooking, and spends as much time as possible boating and wakeboarding on Kalamalka Lake in Vernon, BC.

Behaviour Interventionists

Our BI’s are the backbone of our therapy programs. They are the ones who provide direct service to children in their homes, daycares or school settings. We hire BI’s from a wide variety of backgrounds including Early Childhood Education, psychology, education or applied behaviour analysis. The majority of our BI’s are employed full-time with our company. The main qualities we look for in a BI regardless of education are:

  • a natural ability to play with very young children, and
  • the ability to be flexible and adapt to the needs of children with ASD.

Once hired, we provide BI’s with three weeks of training within our clinic, ongoing training opportunities every two months, and a professional education allowance. Our BI’s also receive supervision from Team Leaders or Regional Managers with each client at least every other week to support them in implementation of goals, management of behaviour, and any other clinical issues.
